Jaishankar to Visit Russia on August 23-24 for Key India-Russia Talks
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will visit Russia on August 23-24 to co-chair the 27th India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission and meet Sergey Lavrov for talks on regional and global issues.
The visit is being undertaken at the invitation of Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. During his visit, Jaishankar will also meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and exchange perspectives on regional and global issues, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
The ministry said in a press release, “The External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, will undertake an official visit to Russia on 23-24 August 2026 to co-chair the 27th Session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC).”
“During the visit, EAM will also meet Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation H.E. Mr. Sergey Lavrov and exchange perspectives on regional and global issues,” the release added.
The India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission has two divisions. The IRIGC-TEC covers trade, economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation, while the IRIGC-M&MTC deals with military and military-technical cooperation.
Jaishankar and Manturov co-chair the IRIGC-TEC, while the military and military-technical cooperation division is headed by the defence ministers of the two countries.
Jaishankar last visited Moscow in November 2025 to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Heads of State Council meeting and participate in high-level discussions.
During that visit, he also held talks with Lavrov on bilateral, regional and global issues, including cooperation through the SCO, BRICS, the United Nations and the G20.
